Wildlife Utopia

Here's My Great Green Idea!
Our neighborhood used to be considered rural until the farmland started being developed into housing editions, strip malls and roads. We noticed an abundance of wildlife being pushed into our area so I decided to do something to sustain that wildlife. I did research about native plants, flowers, trees and shrubs and began planting. My front yard is now a lush oasis with flowers and plants that feed, protect and sustain wildlife of all shapes and sizes. Our family not only enjoys the look of our front yard, but it has become a nature school for our daughter and other neighborhood children. From the tiniest praying mantis babies to nests of robins, humming birds and bunnies, these wonderful creatures have many lessons to teach. We try and catalog the countless species of beneficial insects, butterflies and birds that grace our little sanctuary. We revel in the beauty that the plants have brought to our yard as well as the ease with which they all grow and spread. We took it all one step further and added more plants and a large pond to our back yard. Now, we not only have the land and air creatures, but water creatures as well. We thoroughly enjoy the tree frogs and their amazing life cycle as well as watching the bullfrogs flocking to our pond. We feel as if we are protecting and caring for our local wildlife that is slowly being pushed out of their habitats and dying. We love doing our part for the wonderful earth we all love and share.
