The Great Green Challenge

Here's My Great Green Idea!

As new parents of fraternal twin boys we strive to provide a healthy lifestyle for the children and family as a whole. One thing that most parents can agree on is that the first few months of life babies use A LOT of diapers! Now, multiply that by two and that is what you have with twins... Roughly, 18-20 diapers per day if you are curious. After several weeks of throwing diapers in the trash I got tired of it... I did some research about the huge amount of petroleum products used to produce disposable diapers as well as other resources such as water. Not to mention all of the harmful chemicals used such as chlorine and lots and lots of plastics! I also found out that it takes a sisposable diaper 500 years to decompose in our landfills... Well, I had to try to find a way to reduce our contribution to the landfill and using cloth diapers seemed to be the answer! Many people were shocked that I would even consider cloth diapering not one but two infants, but I feel that I owe it to them to give them the right message by showing them that I care about the world around us and so should they... To those who think that cloth diapers consume more water than disposables, it takes the same amount of water to wash an ENTIRE load of cloth diapers as it does to make ONE disposable diaper!
