Bake two butter cakes spray with pam a 12" pan and a 6" pan.
Butter should be at room tempeture mix with sugar till soft and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time. Mix in a separate bowl the salt, baking powder, and flour. Add vanilla to the butter mixture. Add the flour mixture in three parts alternating with the milk.
Fill pans about half way. Put in the Oven the tempeture should be 375 degrees the 12" pan will bake for about 45 to 60 min or untill fully baked. The 6" will bake in about 40 min. Once the cakes are done make you will be adding a syrup & your buttercream frosting
Mix meringue powder with water to form fluffy peaks. Add vanilla, salt. Add crisco alternating with confectioners suger. if too thick add tsp of milk to make smooth. Place in refrigerator for later use. Now you'll be making your syrup. In a pot bring water and sugar to a boil. Once it starts to cool down add vanilla and rum -- the alcohol will evaporate.
With a bakers brush add to the cakes. Next you will frost your cakes. Mext you will stack them you will need dowels for your bottom layer in the center. Next you will cover them in fondant and stack them all decorations are done ahead of time with fondant and gumpaste in which ever colors you like you can use food color or icing color gels to color the fondant.
