This unicorn is made using a cut round cake to form the unicorn's face.
Use the "extra" to form the ear and an ice cream cone for the "horn".

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 box White Cake
  • 1 can white frosting
  • 1 can pink frosting (with tips)
  • 1 large marshmallow (for the eye)
  • 1 chocolate chip or black frosting (for the eye)
  • Rainbow fruit candy (for necklace)
  • 1 ice cream cone (for the horn)
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1-2 TBS milk
  • Colored sugar sprinkles
  1. Make a Unicorn Template. Take your cake pan and a large piece of paper, wax paper or parchment paper. Turn the pan upside down on the paper and trace the circle. Remove pan. Within the traced circle, draw an outline of the unicorn's face. Cut out. This will be your cake template.

  2. Bake the cake according to package instructions. Let cool. Position the template on the cake and cut out the unicorn design. Use one of the cut cake pieces to create the ear.

  3. Frost cake with white frosting. Attach ear using toothpicks and frosting. Frost ear. Use the pink frosting and a tip to outline the unicorn's head, facial features and smile.

  4. Place large marshmallow for the eye and a chocolate chip for the center. Alternatively, you can frost the marshmallow with black frosting.

  5. For the horn, create a thin paste using powdered sugar and milk. Use a pastry brush and apply the "paste" to the entire cone. Sprinkle with colored sugar/sprinkles. Attach to unicorn with frosting.

  6. Add any final decorative touches such as a rainbow necklace. VOILA!
