Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. My son, who was "Chocolate man" for Halloween requested it. He is also obsessed with pirates.

  • 1 C water
  • 1/2 C buttermilk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • FROSTING
  • 1 stick margarine or butter
  • 4 T buttermilk
  • 4 T cocoa
  • 1 box sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 t vanilla
  1. Sift in bowl: 2 C flour, 2 C sugar, 1 t baking soda. Bring to boil in a saucepan: 2 sticks margarine or butter, 4 T cocoa, 1 C water. Add boiling mixture to dry ingredients. Then mix in 1/2 C buttermilk, 1 t vanilla and 2 eggs. Pour into greased sheet pan. Watch while cooking to avoid over baking.

  2. Frosting:-
Bring to a boil in saucepan: 1 stick margarine or butter, 4 T buttermilk, 4 T cocoa. Add 1 box sifted powdered sugar. Beat well. Add 1 t vanilla. Pour over hot cake.

  3. Let cool. Then decorate with pirates, boat with pirate flag, palm trees, cannons, and treasure chest. I used blue frosting and sprinkles for the water. Yellow frosting and brown sugar for the sand. Swedish fish for the top.
