Pinewood Debry Car Cake on Checkered Flag for my son & his Cub Scout friends.
2 box cake mixes
4 flat craft sticks
1 pc. coardboard covered in foil (6 1/2in.x 1 1/2in.)
24 chocolate peanut butter grahm crackers
2 lg. wipped white frosting
1 creamy fudge frosting
yellow rolled fondant
black icing color
royal blue icing color
food decorator pen
small star tip
decorator or bag & coupler
non stick spray
jelly roll pan 18in. x 13in.
loaf pan 5in. x 8 1/2in.
mini-loaf pan 5in. x 3in.
Spray all pans with non stick spray and sit aside. Mix cake according to box dirictions. Per heat oven to 325*F Fill loaf & mini-loaf pans 1/2 full. Fill jelly roll pan 1/2 full. Bake watching for each cake to become light golden brown. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
Mix a small amount of black icing color in the fudge frosting and frost flat side of chocolate peanut butter graham crackers. Crumb coat mini-loaf & jelly roll cakes with white frosting. arrange black graham crackers in winner's flag paddern. Use the star tip with white frosting fill in white squares to same higth as graham crackers. Center mini-loaf cake & frost. Cut craft sticks & place in mini-loaf & jelly roll cake to support car cake.
Cut loaf pan cake in 1/2 length wise. Place cut side down on foil covered coardboard. Carve to your favorit car or truck shape. Crumb coat & set aside. Add a small amount of royal blue icing color or your favoret color to remaining white frosting. Frost car shape. Need fondant ,place between wax paper & roll out thin. Cut thin strips & place on car.Frame windows,roof,stripes,fenders & licence plate decorated with food pen.
Place car on top of mini-loaf cake with a small dab of frosting. Add mini cookies as wheels. Enjoy!
