This cake was made for my daughter's 1st birthday. We called her octopus because her hands seem to reach and dump everything in sight.

  • 3 store bought cake mixes, 6 tubs of frosting, blue construction paper, cookie sheet, wilton's 3D sports pan, various candy for face of octopus, shell candy molds
  1. First, I lined a cookie sheet with blue construction paper to look like water. I used the wilton's sportsball pan and made both halves. I glued the two halves to together using frosting. I made a 9X13 cake also and cut out eight legs from it. I attached each leg to the ball (head) using frosting.

  2. I frosted the whole cake with pink frosting and put sprinkles over the majority of the octopus. I then put sprees on each leg to create the tentacles. I used gummy rings for the eyes with MnM's in the middle. I used licorice for the smile of the octopus.

  3. After the octopus was done, I used frosting to stick various cany sea animals onto the background including swedish fish. I also bought a candy mold of sea shells and put those around the octopus (that candy was a realy hit!). It turned out great!
