Walk like an Egyptian...to this 3 1/2 foot cake!

  • 4 boxes cake mix - any flavors
  • 5 lb. tub white decorator frosting
  • 2 rolls tape bubblegum
  • 2 tubes black decorating gel
  • 5 tubes decorating gel-various colors
  • Gold food coloring
  • 1 bag jumbo gum balls
  • 3 bags brightly colored candies
  • plastic egyptian figurines
  • 36" plywood board covered with silver tin foil or wrap.
  1. To make the head, use 1 box cake mix to make a 2 layer 8" cake as directed. After cakes cool, trim approx 1" from 3 sides to flatten.Frost top of bottom layer. Place figurines on frosting. These are your amulets! Put cake aside.

  2. To make the body, prepare 2 cake mixes as directed. Pour into 12"x18" pan. Do not overfill. Bake as directed until toothpick comes out of center clean. Cool in pan then invert onto center of serving board. Round top corners to make shoulders. Starting 3" from top on each side, cut angled straight line so that bottom is about 7 in wide.

  3. To make legs, mix 4th cake mix as directed. Pour into 6 1/2" x 9" pan. Do not overfill. Use extra batter for cupcakes. Bake as directed until toothpick comes out clean. Cool then invert onto serving board centered below the 'body'. Starting 4" from the top of the legs, cut an angled straight line on both sides so that the bottom is 4" wide.

  4. Center the 2 layer cake at the top of the body. Add gold food coloring to tub of frosting to make desired color. Frost sides and tops of entire assembled cake. Use tape gum to make headdress with 2 two gum balls as center ornaments. Use black gel to outline face and red gel for lips. Decorate the body using remaining gel and brightly colored candies in designs such as falcons or hieroglyphs. Kids will love it!
