Disney Princess Jasmine Magical Palace of Friends 1st Birthday, 2-Tier, Chocolate & Vanilla with Chocolate Filling Cake. Serves 35
- RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
- 3 Chocolate Cake Mixes
- 1 Vanilla Cake Mix
- 15 c. Vanilla Buttercream Icing
- (1 Batch yields 6 cups)
- -1 c. solid veg. shortening
- -1 c. cup butter softened
- -2 teaspoon Clear Vanilla Extract
- -8 cups powdered sugar (1 bag)
- -6 tablespoons milk
- 6 c. Choc. ButterCream Filling
- Marshmallow Fondant
- 1 c. mini marshmallows
- 1 Tbsp.
- 1 1/2c. Powdered Sugar
- Wilton Colors: Teal, Violet, Yellow, Leaf Green, Gold Luster Dust Powder
- 10" square Pan & 6" Square Pan
- 9 ice-cream cup cones
- 1 Lrg. & 4 Med. styrofoam balls
- Wooden Kabob skewers
- plastic straws
- 19"x14 Cake Board
- 6"x6" Cake Board
- 3"x3" Cake Board
- 8 Figurines
Making the Icing: In large bowl, cream shortening and softened butter with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. For Chocolate Icing add 1 1/2c. Dark Coca Powder. Keep bowl covered with a damp cloth until ready to use.
Baking: Combine 3 Choc. Mixes and pour into (2) 10" sqr. & (2) 6" sqr. pans. Then take 1 Vanilla Mix and pour in (2) 6" sqr. pans. Let cool, trim cakes flat, fill w/ choc. buttercream to create 2 layer choc. 10" base & 3 layer (choc./vanilla) 6" Cube that sits on the base. The remaing 1 layer of 6" vanilla cut into a 3"x3" square for large Dome.
Take 10 cups of light violet to ice 10" Base & 6" Cube. Star Tip(18)the 3"x3" square & towers.
Color Icing: 10cups light voilet, 1 1/2 cups of yellow, dark purple,& green. Color the icing by beating in Wilton Icing Colors until desired shade is achieved. Use Wilton disposable icing bags, and tips: 18(star)for towers & piping, 4(round) for the vines, dots,writing, and 67(leaf).
Marshmallow Fondant: Microwave 1 cup mini marshmallow w/ 1 Tbsp. water for 30 sec. (High power).
Remove promptly and mix until soupy, add Wilton color immediately. Then stir in little powdered sugar at a time until doughy. Remove from bowl and knead in remaining portion of p. sugar. Apply small amount of solid veg. shortening and wrap in saran wrap until ready to use. Make white, dark teal, and light teal, batches.
Fondant Bow: Cut (2)1"wx6"L & (1)1"wx3"L strips and loop together, seal ends with a little water, stand on end,let dry.Once hardened take both loops and insert into center peice loop. Cut (2) 1"wx20"L stips to wrap around 10" cake base. Attach by apply small amount of water to the strips to make it sticky.
Fondant Strips/Windows/Doors/Dome tops: Take fondant and cut out the shapes and apply to cake/towers/domes with frosting.
Tower Assembly: Take cones and wrap in light teal fondant strips first. Join (2) cones on end w/ frosting, let set. Decorate with star tip (18), apply fondant window. Insert wooden skewer vertically thru center and out other end. Bring skewer back up to allow tower to sit on surface. Attach styrofoam ball at top end, ice all but very small portion on top of dome. Push dome & skewer down until dome sits inside cone. Place tower onto cake, ice dome
General Cake Assembly: 10" square base sits on a 19"x14" cake board;6" cube sits on a 6"x6" cake board, and 3"x3" Dome base sits on a 3"x 3" cake board. To support the tiers insert 5 straws (trim to size, so they don't stick up too far) in center of 10"cake to support 6" cube cake. Then insert 4 straws in 6" cube to support 3"x3" dome base. Tip: best to ice each tier with base icing (light violet)first then place one top of each other.
Final Toches: use a Wilton brush and Dust Icing with Gold Luster Dust. Then place 8 figurines at the corners and on 10" base as desired.
