This is a cake I did for my friend for her 1st baby shower. The father is Australian and I wanted to honor that.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 Betty Crocker Chocolate Cake Mixes (eggs, water, oil); chocolate rice crispy treats (chocolate rice crispies, butter, marshmallows); chocolate butter cream, vanilla butter cream, and lollipop sticks.
  1. Bake cake according to directions in a dome cake mold. I used the one you would use to make a princess cake. While the cake is baking, make your chocolate rice crispy treats and your butter cream frostings (if not bought from the store).

  2. Mold your crispy treats into an upper torso (head, arms, upper body), a tail, and the legs. To these molded body parts, push in the lollipop sticks as they will act as your anchors to the cake. You can find lollipop sticks at your local hobby shop or cake decorating stores.

  3. Frost the entire body and tail with chocolate buttercream. Let rest for a half hour to an hours so that the chocolate buttercream begins to firm up or dry a little.
    Color your vanilla buttercream with whatever colors you want on your baby kangaroo. I chose blue and white as the baby is to be a boy. I also purchased a baby bottle, pacifier, and bracelet to decorate the baby kangaroo with. Make this kangaroo your own and have fun
