A simple, easy cake that will wow any age group--kids and adults alike!
- RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
-
- 2 8-inch round cakes
- White frosting
- Red frosting
- Black frosting
- Ribbon
Ice the top of one cake layer and add the other layer on top. Cut the rounds in half and set one half (two layers, though) on the flat side. This makes the arched body of the dog. With the other half of the two layer cake, cut it in half again. You'll have two quarter pieces. Cut one in half so that you now have eighths. Separate the layers so they are single and you have four pieces. Place two on each side of the body to make the legs. With the remaining quarter, cut an "L" shape. Set the two-layer L piece of cake at the front of the body to make the head. You'll have two small, arch pieces left. Separate them to be single, the set them at the sides of the head to make the ears. Using a number 233 decorating tip, cover the cake/body in frosting/hair. Pipe the tail and the back. Pipe eyes, nose, mouth, and whisker freckles in black frosting using the number 6 decorating tip. Pipe the white lines of the eye with a number 4. Pipe the tongue in red frosting with a number 6 tip. Make little ribbon bows for the dog's ears and tail. Use your child's favorite color! While this dog has white fur, I've also done it with chocolate icing and the brown dog is really cute, also!
