No, there are other things parents can do for and with their kids to accomplish the same thing. They are developing their work ethic, they won't need encouragement to find...

Did your mother let you take "mental health" days off? Mine didn't and I don't think it is okay. And people wonder why kids are running around like they are in control of everything these days!

It depends on what kind of "mental health" issue they are having... but I do believe that children do need to have a mental break especially during a stressful time.

Yes. Kids are just little people, and all people need "mental health" days. As long as it is planned and all responsibilities are taken care of, there is nothing wrong with it...
