You surf the Web, send emails, IM, maybe you've even tried your hand at blogging. Now make sure you're getting the most from your mobile phone, too. Sure, your cell serves as an excellent safety backup -- especially on the road, knowing you're connected can be a real comfort. But these days, most mobile devices can do everything from take pictures to play music to browse the Internet, and standard functions like home-message forwarding and caller-specific ringtones can save time and frustration when you're out and about. (Plus, waiting in line at the store will never be boring again.) If you haven't already, consider giving your kids cell phones; phones that dial only pre-programmed numbers are available, as well as pre-paid options, to monitor spending. Not only will having their own handhelds help your kids develop a sense of responsibility, it will alleviate any excuses they may have to not call when their plans or schedules change. With that kind of backup, you'll all be better connected.
