Is the Theater & Arts section of the Sunday paper, or a Terry Gross interview on NPR the closest you get to celebrity gossip? Whether it's because you feel the media mistreats stars, or you just prefer to fill your brain with other types of news, you certainly can't be faulted for avoiding Hollywood hoopla. Keep in mind, though, that you can always reconsider: Keeping tabs on the latest celebrity fashion disasters, for example, may not offer the kind of intellectual challenge you're used to. But when you want to relax, it's a whole lot more fun than reading the financial pages.
