Special Events at WDW
FamilyHost_Meredith - May 04, 2009
Epcot's International Flower and Garden Festival. Star Wars Weekend. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Throughout the year Disney World has a number of celebrations that highlight specific interests, holidays, and seasons.

Have you ever traveled to Disney World for one of these events? What special activities did you get to do while you were there? Which events should our friends try to attend if their schedules allow?

I read on another topic that you purchased your tickets. You will definitely enjoy it. The castle is so beautiful at night, and the fireworks were magnificient also. I am curious as to what the cost is this year?
One other thing I highly recommend is the candlelight ceremony at the American Gardens theater in Epcot. That was so beautiful and moving. It reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. The best way to do it is get a combination dinner and show ticket. When we went, those of us who had purchased the combination ticket practically filled up the theater. There was not much room left for those without the ticket.
One thing we did not get to see, but looks truly amazing in the pictures I have seen, is the Osborne light display in the Disney Hollywood Studio.
We are probably going this year in August, but we definitely want to go back during the Christmas season.
Enjoy it ggroves02!

We went to the Christmas Party last year and the tickets were 50 dollars for kids and 60 dollars for adults. We had a blast, at least the kids and hubby did. I was sick as a dog that night, still managed to have fun, and we actually met Tink and friends that night and some of the more popular rides stay open for the Party guests! You got a free cookie and a free hot cocoa!!! Again something I didn't get to do with being sick, but Hubby and the kids enjoyed mine!

I agree, pbdjlesniak. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights looks awesome!

I loved the Osborne Family Spectacle of lights when we went in Dec.2008. Be there when the lights are turned on. I actually gasped when they turned on the switch. It was unbelievable. It also snows during the light display !

We visited Epcot's International Flower and Garden Festival in 2006. It was absolutely beautiful in the park! We were very impressed.

Sorry it taken so long to respond, I have been so busy these last few days...anyway, we were able to get an online discounted price for our tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We paid $52/adult (the discounted child price is $46), but not all showings are discounted...it looks like only the ones on weekdays and a few Sundays in Dec. The regular prices were $59/adult and $53/child.
We are definitely going to try to get in as much as we can! Thank you so much for the info and recommendations!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you were sick during the party last year...at least you were still able to attend, but at those prices I would have made myself attend too! ;-)
Now with the character greetings... Do they have special greetings or is it set up just like a normal day at the park where you have to go to the character's special places to meet them? Also, with the cookie and hot cocoa... Do you get a special collector's cup with the hot cocoa or it is in a disposable cup?

It sounds like you've been able to experience a lot of the special extras at WDW. That's very cool. We'd love to see pictures! =)

Character greeting were just like during the day. For Tink we went to her spot in Toon Town(i think) Some of the character were just out and about and where ever they stopped a line formed! The cups for the cocoa were disposable. The picture is the castle lit up the night we went(ignore the date on the pic, my camera is screwy)
