Child Care Solution for Mommy Time
FamilyHost_Annabelle - November 15, 2008
Every SAHM needs time to herself. How many of you have considered using a child care provider or center to fulfill this need? What are the benefits both for moms and kids?

I think it would be beneficial to mom and child. Mom gets some time away to get things done without a little shadow underfoot, and the little one gets to be around others their own age and socialize.

That's not something I've ever considered. I could get a babysitter if my husband or parents could watch him. But I've never thought about having a regular arrangement.

Oh, I know these exist and I know how beneficial they are, Only problem is, most of them by me cost money. Not to mention we only have one car and I can't seem to deem why I would wake my little ones up at 5am to keep the car. Especially now, with the cold and the snow. Although, I have finally started to learn how to give myself some "mommy" time. It has been working and everyone is happier:)

I decided to stay at home to avoid sending them to a child care center and the cost is quite expensive. I think a sitter is perfect for when you need some mommy time. My children who are 3 are in nursery school at our local rec center 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. This gives me a couple of hours to run errands and it gives them the chance to be with other children.

I agree. I think preschool is a great way for the kids to get some socialization skills, and mommy to have a few hours to herself.

You are so right. We have a class for 2 and a half year old's that's only 6 hours a week. That doesn't sound like a lot but it gives the parents some free time to run errands, go on appointments, and do what needs to get done without children. Plus, even though it's only a few hours and it's not like there's A LOT of curriculum, just learning to survive without Mommy, listening to a story with a dozen other children, and mastering the art of sharing - the kids get a lot out of their school mornings.
