I'd say the best things were being home to see their "firsts" such as rolling over, walking, talking, etc. and the flip side of that was missing having other adults to interact with on non-playgroup days.

I think the best is getting to share the "firsts" and being the safety net for my family, and knowing I am the one who helps them through their day, the love and the smiles and the fact that can relie on me and they know it.
The Down side is guilt if I do anything with out them, and making time for "ME" It rarely happens, privacy is an issue and of course, Big People Conversation LOL

I agree, missing out is irreplaceable. Making memories is priceless.

Bingo with grownup interaction, I rarely see that, and we dont do play dates with parents, kids come from around the neighbohood, rarely see other parents .

For me it was never missing a moment, I loved that I get to see it all. Soon they will be grown and won't need me like they do now and this is time I will never get back. Downside is adult-interaction has dwindled significantly for me. I miss being just me, but it is a sacrifice I knew I was making becoming a stay at mom.

This is one of the best things: We spent an hour at the park gathering sticks and rocks and leaves and feathers and acorns. Then we wandered home and spent the next 5 hours putting together a Fairy House in the backyard! And we didn't even finish! We're going back to it tomorrow! When I was working I could NEVER just drop everything and do that. So much time to do things at an enjoyable pace!

I agree completely with what you say. I love being home for all of it, but sometimes I wish I could have some adult time.

I agree I miss the adult time, or just time for me the most.
