Be honest now
FamilyHost_Kristina - November 19, 2008
I spent a great five days with no kids and no significant other all by myself doing what I wanted when I wanted and had no worries at all. I didn't have to make meals for anyone, no laundry. Heck I didn't even answer my phone unless it was home just checking in. I felt so guilty before I left but not once while I was gone, and not once since I was back. I hadn't gone anywhere in by myself in the five years prior I always had a shadow with me :) I was able to fully recharge my batteries and remember that I am not just a mom but I am an individual still too.

Now no judging just be honest. If you could take a family vacation or a lone vacation no kids no significant other for 5 days, which would you choose? Where would you go? I know sometimes we feel the guiltiest when we do for ourselves and not them first, but if you could what would you do?

I would take a family vacation, I would be to lonely by myself for 5 days. Personally, I get a greater experience seeing the reactions my children and dh have. Sometimes though I wish I could get a way for a day or two by myself when I get stressed out. Anyone who has a teenager knows what I am talking about.

Family Vacation wins!! For me anyways.

Kristiana, They make a new wristband that you snap on and wear. My neice bought one to fly with my husband in our small plane! It worked for her, all her friends who went on cruises told her about it! Now, Where would I go? I'd go on a cruise! I'd go to Macinknack, IL, Atlantis resort in the Bahamas with my DVC points! Just about anywhere in the US would be wonderful for me!

The trip I was talking about in the original post that I spent 5 days away was in the Bahamas and I loved it. I swear I would have bought a house and stayed there on the beach if I could. I have called that my best trip ever so far. When I go back to the Bahamas I am hitting Paradise Island which is where Atlantis is and staying there. I stayed in Freeport which was great and I loved their international market place. It was just so relaxing being there with no timetable or being in a rush.

I would take the 5 days just myself. My mother took a 7days cruise with her sisters. She had a great time along with her sister they really enjoy themselve and each other. They had no way to call anybody or anybody call them until they got back to land. I think we all should take some time to our selves.

Five days I thought was going to be a long time too. I had so many excuses running through my head on why I shouldn't or couldn't go. I had never been away from any of them for more than a few days so it was hard to leave, but once I was gone and having me time I really enjoyed it. I had the best trip ever by myself doing adult things. I look back at why I was coming up with reasons not to go and it boiled down to me not knowing if they would all be ok without me. And of course they were, and everything was fine when I came back. I am planning on doing something like that every 6 months maybe for not as long but definitely by myself, and if not every six months once a year for sure!

Five days feels kind of long but I think I could take a weekend by myself. I'd love some time to just sit and read, walk around leisurely and take pictures, oh, and sleep in!
I'd love to go somewhere where I have friends and just do non-kid-friendly stuff. Hang out, go to grown-up place, and eat in restaurants without crayons.

A museum and get to see something besides a gift shop or the bathrooms, now that would be a amazing! How about a concert of a favorite band or group? Maybe even a dinner at a non kid restaurant and share a conversation that doesn't include "Finish that first then you can have dessert". And the ultimate, a movie in the theater that you have been dying to see that wasn't necessarily put out by Disney lol.

This is a tough one. I might be able to go away without the kids ( as long as the older two were watching the babies), but without my hubby?, not sure that is possible. I'd miss him too much. We have always been best friends since we met and do everything together. He can't even keep Christmas presents from me. He bought 2 movies for me last night. He wasn't even in the door before he handed them to me! Um, like Christmas isnt for 5 weeks and now he has to go get something else he said. He's sooo cute!
