Saving money on kids clothing.
jillmomof2kids - July 23, 2009
You don't have to spend a fortune to dress your kids well. During these economic times especially, everyone wants to save money. I am always buying my kids new clothes because they grow out of them so fast, and I hate to spend a lot knowing that they may only wear it for a year.
I started a blog for all you Moms & girls out there who want to say stylish but not spend a lot on clothes. Everything on the blog is $10 or less - isn't that crazy? check it out: www.girlsclothesforless.blogspot.com/
Our lives are so busy, I hope this helps to save you time too!!!
cheers to girls with style that save money!!

Goodwill was a great source of used clothing for our kids. There was some great clothing there, as well as the Salvation Army and other thrift stores. Bargain prices, and some good stuff. You have to search, but you can save a lot of money over buying new clothes.

I buy a lot of clothes at the big consignment sales in my area and even at yard sales. When I do buy new, I go to the Children's Place Outlet. I often get shirts and shorts for just $1.99. I also shop Target's and Old Navy's clearance sales. Those are usually $3.00 or less. I also swap hand-me-downs with other moms in my MOMS Club.

I also try to hit the clearance sales and consignment stores. If that does not help I watch the sales ads and any also check for % off sales with coupons.

My sister (a seamstress) and I used to barter for clothing for my daughters. She would sew all their clothing and I would bake bread for her. For the things that she didn't sew (like jeans and coats), I'd get at consignment shops or yard sales. It worked out great! They always looked cute.

I love my thrift store. I purchase all of my son's clothes there. They have so many brand names, good quality clothes that are donated simply because kids outgrow them before they can wear them out. It's wonderful.

Thrift stores are great! Often you'll find that some of the items still have the tags attached, so you know they're still new. Thrift stores are a great resource for growing families!

I don't think my daughter has worn a full priced piece of clothing in the last few years.I shop thrift stores, yard sales, and clearance. It makes me feel good saving the family money.

That is how it was for my kids and still is, even though now they buy most of their clothes with their own money :)

Isn't it great that by the time they're really clothes conscious they can get a job and buy clothes with their own money? I remember my girls doing that. All of sudden they were very discerning when it came to paying their own money for something mom wouldn't buy for them!
