Cut your grocery bill 1/3 what it use to be
Brooklynns-Mommy - December 03, 2008
My husband is in sales and with the economic crisis right now people are really watching there money and that unfortunately means less is spent on lawn care, my husbands business. So our grocery bill was killing us easy 100-150 a week. I cook dinner every night and I am a stay at home mom with my daughter. Recently we had some family staying with us until they could get into a place and I guess they thought it was a vacation because they did not contribute at all. I went from having 3 mouths to feed to 6 and in less then two months had spent around a thousand dollars on groceries, literally breaking my husband and me. I had to do something but I did not want to sacrifice my way of living, I am kind of a food snob, cooking is my passion. I found out that if I went online to my grocery stores website, I shop at Publix, then I could see what items were on sale and bogo. I would make my meal plans from these items and then when I had my completed list of everything I needed I went online and printed coupons for as many items as I could find. I am happy to say I now spend between 50-60 dollars a week for the same amount and quality of groceries I was spending over 100-150 dollars for. Last month I spent 200 dollars total on groceries, it has definantly lightened the load on my back. Like many stay at home moms I pride myself in being able to keep up my house, raise a wonderful child, and be as cost thrifty as possible on the necessary items needed to do the other two. Plus not many husbands, well at least mine, understand how much food is needed to keep a happy healthy household running. This new plan has definantly helped our relationship. I would be more then happy to let you know about some of the sites I go to to get coupons. One of my favorites is at juiceyjuice.com you can print a dollar off one juice, so when they are buy one get one I can buy 2 bottles of Juicy Juice for $1.59!!!!! I hope this helps especially during the holiday season :)

WOW! You go girl! Isn't it just exciting? It's like winning the lottery (sort of), at least with the coupon lottery you have a BIG chance to win...happy couponing!

YES! I feel so proud still today! Today I received a 20% off my entire purchase coupon from my local grocery store for spending $500 in the last 6 months. They also have been giving out gas or grocery dollars when you buy any two items of their store brand, I also have $18 of those. Now I am hoping that they run the triple coupon day again before the 20% off coupon expires and I will use all of my discounts just to see what I can save. I will let you all know when that happens :)

You are my heroine. My husband always asks me how much I save weekly. My best, one time savings was $55 and I haven't been able to match that yet. You do this routinely so I now have a tough challenge.

You can do this! It's time consuming. If you need any pointers leave me a note and I'll tell you all I know. I make a game out of the coupon clipping and reading the sale ads with my 4yr old. LOL, he enjoys our "coupon time" as he calls it. He even sits on my lap while I'm going thru ads on the computer!

I know exactly what you mean. It's so much easier shopping along. I keep track of my list more easily and end up with more money in my wallet after going through the check out!
