When does your decorating begin?
rachinate - November 18, 2008
As with most things, we tend to be last minute about getting the outside lights up (not to mention the tree decorated).

When do you put up the lights? When are you planning to get your tree?

I'm hoping some friendly pressure will help me kick things into gear...

And, please share photos of your hard work!

My decorating will begin tonight. I put up the village 2 weeks ago just because it is so much work. I'm not on my computer, I'll post a pic later. Outside lights will go up when the weather is warm and the boys are home to help!

I cannot wait to see the pics, specially the village one. I just started on my village this year, so it is still a small one. It will grow over the years though :)

Hi friend! That's a gorgeous baby by the way. We begin the eve of Thanksgiving. While my mother and I are cooking, my husband and the children are putting up the tree and decorations inside. The day after Thanksgiving we do the outside of the house. Unfortunately I don't have pictures because I don't have a camera any more. I'm hoping Santa gives me one this year. I hope this helps and HAVEA FABULOUS HOLIDAY SEASON!

I usually start about the second week of December....I love doing crafts so I get excited about doing little things to decorate the house. But this year is going to be a little less decorated, I had just lost my Father and step-mother at once due to sudden death in July, and my personal health has not been all that great, my 6 yr. old daughter's attitude has finally taken a change for the better since I came home from the hospital. So.....it may take me till that last minute this year but I think I shall have something for my little girl to know that I am still the best crafty mom she knows. I just love Christmas, the lights, the music and the smells of baking...that too is not happening this year - my 3 sisters & I usually make up a care package for our parents that were living down in Texas every year....it is just too hard. I can only hope and pray that this Christmas may be the best one ever my daughter may remember for a very loooong time! ;o) HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!

I'm not jumping the gun, but it would be interesting to know how soon you plan to take down your decorations? Will you keep them up through New Years? A week after? The Super Bowl? :)

If it were up to me, they would go down the day after Christmas lol. My mom always told me that is it bad luck to take down the tree before the 1st of the New Year. So mine will go down the 2nd day after New Years.

We'll probably take ours down the second week of January or so. I figure we only get to have Christmas decorations out once a year - let's enjoy them for as long as we can!
