When does your decorating begin?
rachinate - November 18, 2008
As with most things, we tend to be last minute about getting the outside lights up (not to mention the tree decorated).

When do you put up the lights? When are you planning to get your tree?

I'm hoping some friendly pressure will help me kick things into gear...

And, please share photos of your hard work!

We usually do all the decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving but come mid December I am ready to put it all away! So I might wait till the 2nd week of December to decorate it all.

I do the house lights the weekend of Thanksgiving. I hate the fact that stores start promoting Chri$tmas even before Halloween has passed.

I used to be really strict about the whole thing and wait until the 2nd or so week of December before I'd start decorating. But then I realized that was silly. I love Christmas - the lights, the decorations, wrapping presents, mailing cards, etc. - so why cram it into three weeks?

Now I put up the lights Thanksgiving weekend. I definitely wait until December 1st, to turn them on, but I'll at least have them up so there will be done.

After the lights, I'll start pulling out Christmas decorations. I may only get to one box a day, but I at least start unpacking and getting ready.

Our family has a tradition of going to cut down a fresh tree. Because my parents are out of town the first weekend of December, we won't be able to go until the 13th. But the tree will go up as soon as we get it.

Yay! It's almost time!!

I suppose I'm a traditionalist. When I have Thanksgiving, I don't want a tree or lights up. I enjoy all the Christmas decorations, but I'd rather Thanksgiving be focused on other things. But then again, I'm old! :)

We usually do the outside lights the weekend after halloween. I am not sure where you live but we live in Canada and any time after that the temperature will drop with piles of snow. As for inside I am already done, Our thanksgiving is in the begining of October so there is no mix up of holidays. We are going away this year so we have an artificail tree but i usually get my real tree about the 2nd week of december and pray it stays alive till christmas. But i do all the other decorations mid november

My decorating will begin tonight. I put up the village 2 weeks ago just because it is so much work. I'm not on my computer, I'll post a pic later. Outside lights will go up when the weather is warm and the boys are home to help!
