One of the great joys of marriage is being able to share the same space with your significant other. But, sometimes, you have very different ideas of what decorating means. Perhaps you have a vision of perfectly coordinated, Martha Stewart-worthy curtains and pillows, while he wonders what's wrong with covering the walls in sports pennants?

How do you balance your decorating tastes? Does your spouse ever want to have a say in the room? Share your pictures and words of wisdom here!

I'm reminded of the movie "When Helen met Harry" or something like that and it shows a couple going to be married, and he has a huge wheel coffee table and its ugly and she wants it to go. Men and women have different tastes, but heck, everyone has different tastes. If you can't decide, go with neutral colors and nothing ornate. :)

Most of the time hubby just goes with what I pick. He once picked a black comforter/curtains and mustard color paint for the walls in our bedroom! Lets just say that not even our cats wanted to sleep in that room anymore lol

My girlfriend helped me decorate the house I bought. She advised me on a few things, but there were things I wanted. I picked out the flooring, parquet wood in the bedroom, blue carpet in the living room. In the kitchen we collaborated. I picked out the primary color, a rust color. I decided on a wood chair rail, and wallpaper below. She gave me about six different kinds of wallpaper and a number of borders. I selected the plaid wallpaper, and the great coffee themed border. This picture is kind of crummy, the color isn't really right, but gives an idea.

Never thought about it but you are right!! LOL - Its no longer this ugly color, I waited 2 weeks and then I had enough and repainted. I tried taking a picture but the wall color is not showing up right, its a sage color. A lot better on the eyes and nerves lol

I know this may sound impossible but hubby and I share in all the decorating decisions. We love HGTV and DIY network and are always getting ideas and changing something in our home. This is a pic of our dining room.
