My husband and I dated through college but one particular Summer - we split up. I was in desperate need of cash (typical college student) so I pawned a diamond and sapphire ring he had given me. Eventhough he and I were broken up, it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. He had given me the ring the prior Christmas and had designed it himself...so it was very special to me...but in light of the fact that I couldn't pay my rent without pawning the ring (since my roommate had just moved out) - I had no choice.

He and I reunited a couple of months later and when he found out I sold the ring...he (without telling me) went to every pawnshop in town, until he found the ring. He bought it back and met me at work one day - where he pulled me into a quiet hallway - and slipped the ring box into my hand.

When I opened the box and looked up into his eyes, he told me from that moment on - we would stick together and work through everything as a team!

This is our 12th year together and we now have a beautiful 3 year old daughter.

I still have the ring and one day I'll pass it along to our little girl...along with a story that sounds like it came straight out of a movie...a movie based on my own true love story.
