Christmas Cookies

Holly Cookies - Simple - Look difficult, but not- Great for kids to help on
Ingredients: Butter, marshmallows, vanilla, green food coloring, corn flakes, & red hots. WAX Paper

In double boiler melt 1 stick of butter; add 30 LG marshmallows, stir until meltd.
Add 1/2 + tsp Vanilla and stir, then add green food coloring to desired color. Orginal recipe called for 6 drops, I do more to make it look like real holly!

Then slowly add 3 cups cornflakes (unfrosted) in mixture and GENTLY stir to cover all the flakes with green. Be patient! This takes time.! Reduce heat when flakes are coated.

Have trays ready covered with WAX paper and spoon out mixture onto wax paper. Immediately dro 3 red hot candies onto the cookie.(Great job for the kids) Let cookies cool several hours and then gently with table knife peel off wax paper and put into storage container or onto serving tray.

To make it easier to spoon cookies - I keep a glass of warm water next to the double boiler and dip the spoons into the water between dropping the flakes onto the paper. This keeps the mix from sticking to the spoons.

Stir the mixture in the double boiler every little bit. We don't want to cook the flakes, just coat them well, and as the mixture settles it is easier to coat the flakes.

If you like rice krispie treats, you'll LOVE these! I've had people ask me if they were pins! Real butter gives them a glazed look.
