For a year, we had a big black Great Dane. He was ferocious looking, and could stand on his hind legs and put his paws on my shoulders. Big dog! We let my son name him, and he came up with Satan. We tried to dissuade him from it, but that was the name he wanted. So for a year, we had Satan living with us. The funny thing is that he was a big oaf, but he was also a fraidy cat! When the doorbell ran, he'd run to the spare bedroom and crawl under the bed. He was so big, it was really a tight squeeze.

When my parents asked me what I wanted to name our new puppy when I was about 3, I offered "Truck" but that was promptly vetoed. Since then we've had Molly, Bailey, and Lady. Living on my own I had two cats named Gizmo and Gadget. However, going forward, I'm going to start using old english names. Wellington, Kensington, Rafferty, etc. I mean, who names their dog Bancroft, Shipley, or Winthrop? Unique and humorous :)

I like that idea. Those are great names. And really, Pet's have no idea what a name is. The name is for our benefit, so name it something that you think is kewl or will get a laugh. :)

LOL...I fear that you're going to wind up with neurotic, schizo dogs! Hmmm, can dogs suffer from multi-personality disorder???

First, let me get the big picture stuff out of the way: My family lives in Wisconsin and we have a Brittany for our family dog. When we started to do research on the Brit and where the line started, we found out that it could traced back to France. So we decided a great name for our dog would be a French cheese. The name of our dog is: Brie. To top it all off when our dog was a pup, she had a white spot on her ear that was shaped like a wedge of cheese.

Brie looks like a great dog! Looks like she is a hunter, too. Thanks for the pup and the story.

our female tabby is miss kitty..we rescued her as a stray and after having a litter of 9 kittens (trying giving them away!) we had her fixed..she is soooo happy to not have to fight off attackers..we also have one of her kittens from a previous litter and his name is simba..he was such a furball when he was a kitten but now that he's grown he's quite long and lean..they are both orange tabbys and people are always thinking they are the same cat

It sounds like you have some great pets. I can imagine the difficulty of finding homes for 8 kittens!

Of the 4 living cats, Caitlyn was given a sweet girl's name because she's a sweet little cat. Marley was named after Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol because we adopted him a few days before Christmas, Ho Wan is the Chinese term for Good Luck and he has brought much happiness to the family and Boingo was named because I'm a big fan of Danny Elfman's music. Of the 2 cats in Heaven, Syd was named after Pink Floyd's founder Syd Barrett because he was a cat lover himself. Miles, our black manx was named after Miles Davis and we nicknamed him The Boss because he was looked up to by all of the other cats.
