Allergies to Pets
FamilyHost_Tom - 3 weeks ago
Have you welcomed a new pet into your house only to find out that you have allergies to your pet? How did you resolve the matter? Here are some suggestion for how to deal with that. Check it out and then let us know what you think. http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/allergies_to_pets/

We've never had that problem. I'm not what we would do, though. Probably give the animal back or find a new home for it.

From folks I've talked too, its pretty rare for there to be an allergy that can't be deal with by some kind of medication.

Fortunately we learned early on that my hubby, my son and myself all have allergies long haired animals, so the only pets we have gone with are rabbits and fish, and I'm quite content with those. My daughter doesn't have allergies and she is begging for a dog and its hard because I would like to get one, but if we got one and it was too much on our allergies I would definitely have to give it away.

I know that's difficult saying "no" but you are quite correct. The heartbreak of having a dog and then having to give it up would be worse.
