I'm wanting to put in a patio outside my back door. I dont want to pour concrete, I'm looking to put down stone. I need to put together a materials list, though.

Oh yes, we did a lot of work. When we first moved into the house, there was nothing but weeds. The previous owner had sold the top soil from the property (which I did not even know you could do!). We started from scratch and we still have a few things we would like to get done but we finally do have a nice lawn! I will try to remember to scan some of the before and after shots we took over the years and post them.

I'll be honest - we haven't done a lot with our landscaping. I don't really enjoy gardening so I've selected bushes and plants that are pretty self-sufficient - azaleas, holly bushes, boxwood, etc. They mainly only require trimming and still look very nice.

Eventually I'd like to spend some time reading up on other plants and fixing the yard up some more. But I haven't found that time yet. :-)

Thanks, we'd love to see pictures of before and after. Those pics and stories give the rest of us some motivation to get out there and see what we can do with our own yards.

Every summer we do more landscaping in our yard. There is something about having your hands in the dirt and planting things that is so much fun and gives such satisfaction. Now we're looking to fence the back yard for the dog. We're never short of outdoor projects to do.
