Have you taken your kids fishing this summer? How were the fish biting? Did you fish from the shore or dock, or head onto the open water to fish? Share your stories about reeling in the big one.

Our little guy is too little to fish at this point, but I can tell you about the fun we had fishing when we lived in Boston. My grandparents' best friends own a commercial fishing company in Gloucester, MA. When we were little, all of us used to go deep sea fishing and the fish were definitely biting! My sister and I had our own equipment and caught shiners by the dozen. I remember one trip where one of the professional fisherman landed a tuna! It was huge! Of course, I was a little kid, but I still think it was huge.

Sometimes we would fish at the dock, but the best times were fishing off the boat.

When I was a young boy, my Uncle Bob took me jugging. We lived on the Mississippi River, so there were plenty of inlets that were great for that activity. We'd set out about 20 milk cartoons with line, hook and bait from our boat. Then we'd wait to see how soon we'd get a bite. I can still remember the delight of watching a milk jug go tearing off through the water as a catfish took the bait. For a kid, there was nothing more fun then seeing that happen

Along with camping, fishing is our favorite summer activity. My little grandson came up to our campsite in July and caught his first fish! He was so proud. It just doesn't get any better than that.

What a great pic. I have one almost like that of when I was a kid. So proud to have caught a fish. Of course as I grew up, everytime I looked at the pic, that darn fish kept shrinking! :) Thanks for sharing that photo. That was a special day, no doubt.
