Fall foliage: Where are the best spots?
maybe-baby - July 23, 2008
I know it's not even the end of the summer yet(!), but I'm thinking about taking a trip to see the changing of the leaves myself. Being in Southern California, the seasons are so much subtler here than back East, so I want to venture out of here. Does anybody have any hot spots where they like to go to see the beautiful fall colors? Many thanks!

Asheville, NC is a favorite for us. You have the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we love to visit the Biltmore Estate and see how the gardens are changing. And, there are lots of apples to pick, and tiny country towns in the surrounding area.

I like how you combine seeing the leaves change with a trip apple-picking. I haven't picked apples in years, gonna have to do that when we go see the colors in fall. Thanks for sharing that idea.

Gatlinburg, TN has always been a favorite with my family. We usually rent a cabin up in the mountains, away from the hussle and bussel of the town. It's beautiful. We take the Blue Ridge Parkway most of the way home and that itself is a beautiful sight.

I live 45 minutes from Gatlinburg. It is beautiful here in the fall. I feel so blessed to live so close to two fabulous parks...Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest. Both 45 min in different directions. We camp all the time, but fall is the best.

I'm so jealous. : P We've been trying to move there for years, but it just hasn't been right. I thank God for small favors though, even when I think I'm not getting my way. If we had moved I'd never have met Kailey or her dad and I wouldn't trade my little princess for anything in this world. Now we just vacation there two to three times a year. I can't wait to take Kailey this year. It will be her first time.
