Obama Girls' Vaccination
FamilyHost_Cheryl - October 30, 2009
While most of the country has yet to see the vaccine, Sasha and Malia have been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus. In my state only the very sickest children have been vaccinated so far: kids with suppressed immune systems due to cancer and other diseases. I know that it sets a good example for the country for the president's daughters to be seen getting vaccinated, but should they have received it before others that are in a higher risk group received it. I know many parents of kids with asthma and diabetes and parents of kids with significant special needs that are still waiting for the vaccine to arrive. Do you think this was a good thing to set the example for the country or do you think it was preferential treatment for the girls to be vaccinated before kids with more significant needs?

I don't really care what others do. it doesn't affect my choices or decisions, and in the case of the vacinne, I'm not getting it. I'll take my chances. :)

Did you see where some major financial institutions on Wall Street have gotten doses of the vaccine and yet hospitals/clinics still do not have all they need for the most vulnerable children?

Gee, do ya really think? So the Obama girls have been vaccinated a week ago. My pediatrician isn't going to have the vaccination in stock for another 3 WEEKS. It's not a good example. It's a slap in the face.

Not for you silly. Your children should be getting the vaccine. Mine got the regular flu shot but swine flu is already working it's way through. A note posted in the After School Care program let us know that some of the employees have been exposed to swine flu outside of the facility. If I'm not mistaken, 100 children have been killed by the flu and it's just the beginning of the season.

I learned over the weekend that if you were in elementary school in 1959, that you received the vaccination. That is one reason why older Americans don't have to worry about the swine flu. There's a lot of people who aren't vaccinating their children. The death to the flu is typically from a secondary cause.
