Healthy Holiday Challenge!

Can you believe that the winter holidays are four months away? I just looked at the calendar on my kitchen was and it just dawned on me that now is the time to prepare myself for the parties and other celebrations I'll be attending during that special time of year. I started this Healthy Holiday challenge for myself and for all of us because if you're like me, you need the added incentive a challenge can bring.

Instructions - Weigh yourself this week and recording privately, or publicly if you wish. At least once a week let us know how much you lost that week and also post your total loss from the start of this challenge. Feel free to share the ups and downs of your week, what worked and what didn't, and let us know what the rest of us can do to help you reach your goals.

  Halloween Suggestion...Bundle up all your leftover candy and take it to church Sunday morning and pass it out to all of the kids there. Or you could call your childs teacher and ask if you could bring it and give it out to class on Monday. It's best to get rid of the excess candy asap to avoid becoming tempted to eat it all yourself. :)

This year we gave out fancy pencils so we wouldn't even have to deal with leftover candy and what to do with it. But those are great ideas, BroncosDad! We'll try that next year. I think some of the kids missed their candy!

Thanks! I appreciate the encouragment! I'm focusing on making good food choices this week - exercise is hard because of a relapse of a cold. So, if I can't exercise as much as I'd like I focus more on healthy food choices and watching my total calorie intake. I try to keep a food log - that seems to work the best for me.

Sorry to hear about your cold. One thing for sure, keep drinking water - at least 64 oz, and maybe more because you have a cold - since remaining hydrated is essential for optimum weight loss. Keeping a food log is a great idea! Good luck, and keep us posted on how you're doing. :)

What great sharing! Thank you, everyone! I just got on the scale and have lost another 3.7 lbs since my last weigh-in, for a total of 6 lbs. Four more to go before Christmas!

I weighed in and lost .5 lb. We had a couple of functions last weekend, so I was happy to lose anything!

I just got back from a post-baby doctor's appointment and have lost 23 lbs since the baby was born in June, and 5 lbs since the beginning of September without really trying. I think it's still baby weight that's coming off. I hope to lose another 5 lbs by Christmas.

i lost another 2 1/2 lbs and hope for at least 5-10 before reaching goal weight. i have noticed that i am more conscience of what i eat, how many calories and especially portion control. now i have to apply it to these holidays coming up and i'll be good to go

I was able to not gain any back, but didn't lose any either. But that's ok. This is another week!! Congrats to everyone for their hard work and thanks for their contributions to the site. I enjoy reading everyone's progress...I get encouraged by all your successes...shows me it's really not impossible. This week I need to incorporate more exercise - did all my exercise last week by painting my kitchen and office. But this week I need to get more serious about incorporating real exercise.
