Healthy Holiday Challenge!
FamilyHost_Annabelle - August 23, 2009
Can you believe that the winter holidays are four months away? I just looked at the calendar on my kitchen was and it just dawned on me that now is the time to prepare myself for the parties and other celebrations I'll be attending during that special time of year. I started this Healthy Holiday challenge for myself and for all of us because if you're like me, you need the added incentive a challenge can bring.

Instructions - Weigh yourself this week and recording privately, or publicly if you wish. At least once a week let us know how much you lost that week and also post your total loss from the start of this challenge. Feel free to share the ups and downs of your week, what worked and what didn't, and let us know what the rest of us can do to help you reach your goals.

Let's get busy!

Well, I started on Monday - did yoga, updated my profile on my Wii Personal Fitness Trainer and started my food/exercise log. Tuesday I kept up with the food/exercise log and I did a 30 minute walk. So..I'm taking things day by day, trying to be honest on my food log and just try to fit 30 minutes of exersice in a day. At least, that's my goal and hope. :)

Hello everyone! This first week, for me, was tough, but I started out at 184.4 and I lost 1.5 lbs! I had hoped to go down at least 2 lbs...and would like to keep at that rate...but I'm happy with at least some progress.

Good luck to everyone! Don't give up! Have a fantastic day!

GREAT JOB AMY!!! WOO HOO!!!

Take it slow, you're less likely to have really big slips...at least that is what I've found. I once lost over 100 lbs in the course of 18 months. I was actually able to keep it for for quite some time. I found working at it slowly I learned what my triggers were. What things I could control & things that I was totally weak at. I could prepare myself for situations I know I struggle with. Besides we don't gain weight or get off our healthier living routines overnight---it's over time. For me it takes me time to learn good habits again.

Keep up the good work. If you slip up, don't give up. Keep us up-to-date on your journey. GO FOR IT!!!

Halloween Suggestion...Bundle up all your leftover candy and take it to church Sunday morning and pass it out to all of the kids there. Or you could call your childs teacher and ask if you could bring it and give it out to class on Monday. It's best to get rid of the excess candy asap to avoid becoming tempted to eat it all yourself. :)

Ok..so week two didn't go so well, in terms of my goal - I'm back to my starting weight of 185...went a little off track last week. But, it was for good reason - we had a week of family fun and home projects. So, I didn't do as well with my eating healthy and didn't get in my exercise....but the week was a good boost to my outlook and I feel motivated to stay focused and get back on track.

Hi AmyinIllinois! Going off track for a week of family fun and home projects is a great idea! And now it's a new week and you have happy memories of a great time in your life. :) So hop back on the bandwagon and join the rest uf us as we shrink toward the holidays! Good luck!
