Healthy Holiday Challenge!
FamilyHost_Annabelle - August 23, 2009
Can you believe that the winter holidays are four months away? I just looked at the calendar on my kitchen was and it just dawned on me that now is the time to prepare myself for the parties and other celebrations I'll be attending during that special time of year. I started this Healthy Holiday challenge for myself and for all of us because if you're like me, you need the added incentive a challenge can bring.

Instructions - Weigh yourself this week and recording privately, or publicly if you wish. At least once a week let us know how much you lost that week and also post your total loss from the start of this challenge. Feel free to share the ups and downs of your week, what worked and what didn't, and let us know what the rest of us can do to help you reach your goals.

Let's get busy!

I definately need to get started on losing some weight. I don't know exactly where the scale is (just moved) but about 2 weeks ago I weighed in at 155. It's not too bad because I'm only 5 lbs more than when I first got pregnant. But I was hospitalized for a month and once I was released weighed 140. I think 15 - 20 lbs would be wonderful to shed! I'll stop eating so many sweets, drink more water instead of so much juice and soda. Adopt a better eating schedule for myself. Most importantly try and exercise!

Hi Hannahljmr! That's a great plan! Sometimes, writing your food down and eating on a schedule can help you get back into the swing of things. Also, water - 2 quarts a day - is important because it helps your body work efficiently. Exercise is also very important. It's muscle that burns fat. The more muscle we have, the more fat we burn. There's the cardio benefit as well. It sounds like you're on the right track!

Haven't had a lot of time since getting back from Disneyland. But I wanted to let you all know it was a heckova lotta fun!!! Also that walking 3-5 days a week for about 5.5-6 months prior really, really helped. We really weren't tired til the last day...day 5.

Also when I was there in April '08 my pant size was 44-46. This Sept. it was 40!!!

Here's my hubby & I with a friend.

Hi! I'm new to the online group thing - so I'm learning this. But, I'm also stuck in my desire to get back into shape. I've got the knowledge of what to do, but I'm lacking the drive and/or will to do the work. Any help or ideas? Thanks!

Okay, color me shocked. Even with all the stress & lack of energy to move forward on my healthier living journey, I'm still loosing weight!!! Not as much, but I'm still slowly but surely loosing!!! WOO HOO!!!

Today, I decided not to let my work life get in the way of my real life. I did tons of housework...I kinda let it slide cause of my frustration. My arms are a little sore, but it's a good thing. I'm going to do my stretches this evening. And tomorrow, I start walking again. I realize in my heart that the best way to conquer stress is to fight back. Walk it out, scrub it out---as well as the soap scum, & stretch it out of your tense muscles.

Well, I started on Monday - did yoga, updated my profile on my Wii Personal Fitness Trainer and started my food/exercise log. Tuesday I kept up with the food/exercise log and I did a 30 minute walk. So..I'm taking things day by day, trying to be honest on my food log and just try to fit 30 minutes of exersice in a day. At least, that's my goal and hope. :)
