I am sure all of you have heard about the rock band game where kids can play different instruments and also sing along to music. Do you think this type of game has any type of benefit to children or is it just a fun game? Share your opinion with us! Not acceptable?
I certainly hope it's fun AND somewhat educational, as I'm giving "Rock Band" and an Xbox 360 to my two oldest grandkids for Christmas, and it will stay at my house. I like the idea that they will be more interested in playing their own music, rather than just using a controller to fight monsters and such. But maybe I should follow "Mom2SammyW" 's advice and get a good set of earplugs! Not for the bad music, but for them picking at each other "YOU missed the note" "No I didn't, YOU missed it!" Should be an interesting year!

KIDS are GREAT, it's just too bad they have to grow up to be PEOPLE!
It sure must be "the" game to have as every time I walk ito Sam's Club there are people playing that game with the drums and the guitar. Even if the store is nearly empty, that game has people playing it. At least there is movement with that game instead of just sitting there and having the thumbs move on a controller.

Oh I know! I had to go to Best Buy for a new pc monitor and I tell you, I could not work in that store. They had 2 bands set up, one each for the major gaming system and the noise!! Let's just say I was glad I did not find a monitor, that way I did not have to stand in line to pay and listen to anymore *music* lol Not acceptable?
I think that there is some benefit to it. If they're all playing it, they have to learn to work as a team, they encourage each other, they say nice things like "you did good" and it's a bonding thing in a way sometimes only kids can. Come to think of it, this is about the only time they're together when they don't want to kill each other! LOL!!!!

LOL, I can only imagine how funny that must have been! What is really the funniest is that when my kids sing, they think they sound soooooo good! I guess they did not notice the earplugs in my ears lol

I know what you mean! My niece saw My Fair Lady and for weeks she would prance through the house singing (as off-key as imaginable), "I Could Have Dance All Night." The first time I heard her, I was at their front door getting ready to knock, and heard what I thought was inconsolable wailing. It was my niece channeling Audrey Hepburn. Oy! LOL

Watching my daughter play the guitar made me realize, I could never move my fingers that quick! I guess like karaoke, it would be fun to play during parties or family get togethers! Not acceptable?
