New Windows
FamilyHost_Pia - September 17, 2009
I am sure by now you all have heard about the new Windows 7, set to be released in late October. It is stated that 'The new OS introduces a compelling combination of welcome innovations and much-needed polish'. Having both Windows XP and Vista, I am curious to see how the new Windows 7 will rate! Are you looking forward to the new version of Windows?

I'm all for progress, but I just learned how to use Vista. I'd like to stay with it for a while.

I am with you about just feeling comfortable with Vista. The only thing about Vista is that there seems to be quite a bit of software that is not compatible without a driver download. I am curious about Windows 7.

I dislike Vista, way too many quirks, had to do some major uninstalling and reinstalling a number of times. I think MS tends to ship a product before they have all the bugs worked out so that they can get the bucks rolling in sooner. While I understand that, I prefer stability. I won't try the new system for a year or so to see how it shakes out.

I've only had my laptop about 5 weeks, but so far I haven't had any of the problems that everyone complains about with Vista. Am I just lucky? I'm trying to keep hubby and son from downloading too many games and other things that could cause problems. I need the laptop for writing, so I need it to work!

I just saw the release date for Windows 7, and now I wish I'd waited to buy the laptop. I don't suppose they'll let the Vista people upgrade inexpensively?

Yes! A lot of my programs had to have new drivers to work on Vista and that is the part I do not like!

I guess it can't hurt to check into the upgrade! Besides some new drivers, I have been lucky myself....I hope I didn't just jinx myself, lol.
