Which cell phone plan do you think would be best for teens? Do you prefer a prepaid plan where they have to manage their talk time or do you think an unlimited plan would be best? Share your pros and cons with us! Not acceptable?
Our family (which includes teens) has a family plan where we share our minutes. My kids don't spend a lot of time on their cell phones and so it has not been a problem for us. Our nights and weekends are free and any time we talk to each other or anyone with the same cell phone company the minutes are free. Not acceptable?

Sounds like you have a great plan. My problems are my kids are teens and love texting, so now I am looking into an unlimited text message plan for them. Right now they are on a prepaid plan and constantly running out (which I am making them buy any additional time they need so I can get a hold of them when needed). Not acceptable?

That's what my parents did. They got five phones, sent one to us, there's one for mom and dad, one for my sister and one for my niece. It works out great because we can talk to each other for free any time we want. Not acceptable?
Thank you Mom2SammyW and kaceecat! Which company do you recommend for those type of plans and are they expensive (seeing my teens will be paying half)? Not acceptable?
And why is it that teens prefer the cell phone over the house phone? I mean both can be carried to every room in the house and even the yard and at least the house phone does not cost extra!? Not acceptable?

Our plan is thru Sprint and it is pretty affordable. My kids don't text message and so we didn't add that cost to the plan we chose. I am lucky because I have friends whose daughters text a ton and so they had to go with an unlimited texting plan after receiving the first shocker of a bill. Not acceptable?

That's a very good question and I have no clue why. I will ask my kids about it tomorrow. Not acceptable?
Well, I don't get the bill my ex husband does. When he first got them phones and one for himself I told him to get unlimited texting because the younger teenager doesn't like to "talk" on phones. He didn't and blew a gasket when he got the first bill. Now, they all have unlimited text and talk time. I told him to find out which phone company their friends had and go thru them. It worked. His bill is no longer through the roof. They had to teach him how to text and he is just as bad as the boys, but, he can always get a hold of them. I can't remember which one it is. I'll find out and let you know. Not acceptable?

Mom uses Verizon because it's only $100 for four phones. That's for 700 shared minutes, free nights after 9pm and ending at 6am the next day, free weekends, and free calls to each other and to the house phone that's attached to the account. Not acceptable?
