Bad Inventions
FamilyHost_Pia - December 03, 2008
I hate to say this but I feel that cell phone should have never been invented. Yes, they come in handy in emergencies but everywhere you look people are texting or chatting or you hear their annoying ringtone go off. Which gadget do you think we would have been better off without?

I agree. And its not even violence, it is the sadistic torturing kind of violence that exposed a sickness that does nothing but give problem kids ideas. Columbine is a result of that kind of video game. And it's not going to get any better.

Sure does not seem that it will. The more blood and core, the better...in their minds!

I read an article about a woman who was in a terrible accident, trapped in her car with mortal wounds. She used her cell phone to call and tell her family that she loved them. In that case, the cell phone was a tool that was a benefit. I don't believe the technology is the villain, but rather how we sometimes foolishly use the technology. For instance, the car has led to the death of hundreds of thousands of people. Yet, the car is a tool that has improved our lives. Think not? imagine walking or riding a bike everywhere, especially in winter. Rather than blaming the gadgets, I blame thoughtless utilization of the gadgets.

Oh, I am not blaming the cell phone, I do blame the user too. I just wish we could just take the cell away from certain people!

Oh I so agree about the infomercials. What a waste of time and space. Not to mention, do any of them really work? Some of the "regular" commercials are just as hideous. Cell phones, I could take or leave. Talk about never being left alone. Most teenagers (mine included) are on them soooo much it's ridiculous. In my house they have to be off during dinner. I can't stand seeing people out for dinner and the kids on phones. No wonder people don't talk over dinner any more, too many gadgets.I used to see this a lot when I waited tables. Younger kids all have those Nintendo ds games or other hand held video systems. The parents talk and as soon as the child asks a question they would tell them to go back to the games! How very frustrating for the child! One time the parents were so preoccupied with ignoring their son they didn't realize he had gotten "stuck" in his game. He was so upset. I knelt down at the table to see what he was playing and lucky for me it was a Pokeman game. I learned how to play them when my teenagers were little. I showed him what he needed to do and told him he has to try different things when he got to places he had never been before. The parents were so shocked they actually became "interested" in his game. So sad an outsider had to show them how to spend time witht heir child. :(

That is the sad thing about gadgets, some parents use them as babysitters just so they do not have to deal with their children for a while. It does not surprise me that some children are so attention starved that they then turn to those that actually do pay them and that could be very dangerous :(

Ohhh, there are a lot those products that I rather not even see, let alone buy! I really think the Head On headache stuff should be banned. For one it does not work and then it is annoying!

I think some of those informercials and "seen on tv" items are a waste of money and don't do as they claim. There's a sleep aid commercial that's on way after the kiddies are asleep and the actress says a naughty word that you can't hear but you can read her lips, (starts with an "s") so you know what she's saying anyhow and it has nothing to do with the product they're trying to sell. I find it very disturbing. Some of the informercials, like SHAM WOW should be banned from the airways! Ugh.
