Make them rest?
agabel - September 06, 2009
my boys love to play hard, but we have been getting over a cold this labor day weekend, i have to remind them that they need to rest even if they are feeling a bit better because your body needs sleep to get better, So we have broken out the movies this weekend i think by the end of monday we will have watched every disney movie they love it is a great way to get them to rest without them knowing it B) How do you get you kids to take it easy?

My kids are still little (2 years old and 2 months old) so they nap regularly, so I don't have that issue yet. I like your idea about making them rest when they're fighting a cold. Your movie idea is a good one. Plus, staying at home keeps the germs from spreading!

I think all kids are different. My daughter is a type A personality and she would always struggle when it was time to go to bed. However, she finally learned and stopped fighting it and listening to her body. My son didn't put up much of a fight, and he slept well. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is let our kids 'learn' that if they don't rest when their bodies tell them too, they'll run out of steam at inopportune times.

It can be hard to force kids to settle down when their bodies just aren't ready to.

Do you think more people will be staying this winter because of swine flu?
