Concerts Unchaperoned
FamilyHost_Cheryl - July 15, 2009
I was reading a newspaper blog about a mom who went to her first Jonas Brothers concert with her daughter and son. Not having daughters, I do not see that my future, but it did get me to wondering how old her kids were. And specifically at what age kids are old enough to go to a concert of a group like the Jonas Brothers on their own, without an adult chaperoning them. When do you think it's okay to let your kids go with a group of friends to a concert?

I think once a kid is old enough to pay her own bills and live on her own, she's old enough to go to a concert without adult supervision. We were 15 and 16 when NKOTB was popular and we went to all their concerts with both our parents. I think it's okay for 15 and 16 year olds to go to the library, but not to a concert. Too many things can happen.

When my kids were Juniors, I let them go to a concert with a group of kids, making sure they stayed together the whole time. They didn't go often, but we made sure they were safe and had a way to contact us.

I think you bring up a wise point, making sure that if they are unchaperoned they stay together with a group.

I remember hearing so many stories about things that happened at concerts that it was a relief that my boys never were interested in attending one.

My daughter is 14 and we have been to 5 JB concerts because I am not comfortable letting her go by herself with another one coming up the end of August. I am not sure at what age i would let her go by herself, with a group, without adult supervision. Especially with JB concerts, there are just way too many people and i am not sure i would be comfortable letting her go without supervision.

I love my daughter, but she has no common sense. And she's 14. I don't see her going to an unchaperoned concert until she's 17 even if theres a group of eight or more.

Kids should not be un-chaperoned at a concert until they are 17 or so. What a better place for predetors to be..A kids concert! These are more dngerous times then what we grew up in. Library, a movie with a group, a dinner with a group is about all that mid-teens need.

I wouldn't let my girls go without an adult until they were in their late teens....depending on the group they were going with.

My 12 year old's friend is going to a Miley concert unchaperoned. She can take one friend with her....it will not be my daughter! lol
