All of us would prefer to travel First Class. For those of you who have done so, do you think that the expense of the upgrade is money well spent, or is first class a luxury that you can't or don't wish to afford. We're talking about class distinctions! :) Not acceptable?
So, the cost of three tickets in coach was less than two tickets in first class, yes? I wonder if the airlines are pricing themselves out of customers who might consider first class otherwise.

I doubt it. The cost of air travel is getting to be so much for families that they can barely handle their tickets. Extra seats are probably as far a reach a luxury as First Class! Not acceptable?
My husband just bought the extra ticket ... it was that simple!

I've seen some people who took a later flight and who were bumped up to first class because they were willing to give up their earlier seat. But is there a "standby" for first class? Not acceptable?
That's cool. How does that work? I've always wondered how you can do that since I figured a person/photo id and had to correspond to each seat.

That's a good question. Do you just tell the cabin steward that you had purchased that seat as well? Course, if you have a ticket for that seat, there shouldn't be any problem. But I'm not sure. Anyone know? Not acceptable?
On a recent trip my husband bought us poor man's first class ... he paid for the middle seat! We had a long overbooked flight and we had plenty of room to stretch!

I was fortunate to fly First Class a few times - twice on cross-country flights and once on our Honeymoon (we redeemed our frequent flier miles for the upgrade). On the long flights, I think it's well worth the expense. Our honeymoon was a pretty short flight 2-3 hours and while it was nice (mimosas for our morning flight, yay!), I could've survived in coach for that short time. Not acceptable?
I guess it would depend upon the difference in cost. I've only flown first class once, and it was so long ago, I don't really remember. I know that I've been rather uncomfortable in coach since I'm a big guy with long legs. That's a hard call. Unless I really needed to arrive rested and very fresh, I'd probably opt for coach all of the time.
