Keeping you and your family healthy when flying
FamilyHost_Kristina - October 06, 2008
How do you keep your family healthy when flying? What precautions do you take? With so many people traveling especially during the holidays how do you avoid the germs and sick people?

We wash our hands. That's probably the best line of defense in any situation, whether you're traveling or at home.

Besides washing our hands, we keep handi-wipes available, and freely use them to swab any suspicious places (arm rests, etc)

We just carry a huge pack of wipes with us. It's not perfect, but kids touch so much and we don't have time to run to the bathroom and wash hands every five minutes.

We carry the wipes and hand sanitizer with us. Seems to be working well. We wipe down the arm rests and the window area, those are the places the kids seem to touch the most of.

We drink plenty of water and take extra vitamin C as well as having hand sanitizer... we don't use the pillows or blankets either!

I wear comfy clothes and shoes and keep moving so I am not sedentary... it keeps the circulation moving!

These are all great tips, keep them coming! I am flying in November and I know there will be lots of people with colds and small children on the flights and in the airports. I just hope I don't get a cold when I leave since it is a vacation!

Another great thing is to apply plenty of moisturizer and lip balm to keep you from getting dry skin and chapped lips!

I am with you on drinking plenty of water, especially as flying can dehydrate you. I hate flying only because of all that recirculated air with the germs in it. Yuck!
