Miley Speaks out
FamilyHost_Jen - May 23, 2009
Oh my gosh I heard how people were calling Miley fat and she let them have it. I saw her in her bikini and the girl is far from fat! What do you think about this slam against our girl?

I think the younger part of our society is hung up on size. Anyone over a size four is too fat, according to the way many in today's younger generation think. It's not only against Miley. It's against girls in general. If you're a double digit size, like a 10, and you're not 6'5", you're too fat. That's pretty dumb if you ask me.

I think the greater issue is the assumption that there is something wrong with being fat, and what the perception of "fat" really is. Be healthy, yes, but a certain percentage of our population will never be skinny or thin, regardless of the diet shakes and starvation diets they are on. It's less healthy to starve yourself than to overindulge.
The real issue is cultural perception and definition of "beauty," as well as the high value we put upon it. We all know that there is absolutely no correlation between physical attractiveness and inner beauty. Some physically unremarkable people are beautiful, and some physically gifted people can be the ugliest of all humans.

I guess there are another questions here that beg to be answered. What factors determine what "fat" is? Is it clothing size? Body fat percentage? Height/Weight chart? The doctor? The adoring (or maligning) public? Is it something we decide for others or for ourselves? I'll answer those after I get back from the gym. ;-)
