Ugh! Little Girl Costumes
Shelstory - October 28, 2009
I am so late to the costume hunt, but I had to share my frustration. My 7-year-old wants to be a pirate. I ended up buying her a boys' costume and ripping off the tag that said "boys." Am I the only one that thinks fishnet stockings should not be for 7-year-olds. What sort of pirate would be wearing fishnet, mini skirt and a blouse that looks like she borrowed it from the tavern wench????!!!! Wow!

Oh I agree Shelstory ... I was lucky and found a great pirate costume a couple of years ago for my daughter that had no fishnet type wench stockings. This year I have a cute leopard and a witch heading out the door!

She was so funny this morning, asking if I liked her costume. I told her I did, and she asked what I liked the best about it. I told her I liked that it didn't have any frills or sequins -- that she looked like a real pirate. She didn't seem pleased with that answer, so I added, "Because you look beautiful no matter what you wear, but in this costume you also look like Elizabeth from Pirates of the Carribean. pretty but able to beat any boy in a sword fight any day."

She has two big brothers, so she really liked that answer. :)

Well Shelstory,
If you do want to "girl" it up you can add a tutu. Super easy, ( I can share no-sew directions) and cheap!
Here are some links to a video and a photo album of mine when my 5 yr. old had a Pirate Princess (more PIRATE less Princess) celebration on a Pirate Cruise Ship.
ARGHHHH!

Hey Thanks! I'll check it out.

She was home for lunch and just headed back in full costume. We have our school Halloween parade today. She added he black pleather boots to the costume, so she looks pretty styling, according to her.
