Haunted Houses
kayceecat - September 07, 2008
Are there haunted houses, put up for Halloween, where you live? We have a few around here and they are really a lot of fun to go through.

A church in OKC had an old abandoned house donated. They spent a month rebuilding it inside to the greatest haunted house ever. You had to crawl at times, always something going on to scare you. To "exit" you had to slide down an inflated escape bad from the attic.

I'll say we do! Too many to choose from actually. The only way you can go to them all is to start as soon as they open. LOL Let's see....we have....

The Haunted Farm with a haunted hay ride and a corn maze.
www.halloweenonthefarm.com

The Jay Cee's (sp?) Haunted House just a mile or two away.

The Haunting in an old warehouse
www.thehaunted.net

The Judgement House is run by one of the local churches

Atrox Factory is a big one that is vastly popular.
www.atroxfactory.com

The Haunted Maze is a haunted corn maze.

Barns of Horror is another haunted farm

Evil House of Horror

Fright Factory is supposed to be back up this year. They didn't open last year.

Graystone Manor is a truly twisted place.
www.graystonemanor.net

The Haunted Chicken House - yes, a haunted chicken house. LOL

Haunted House of Pain
www.hauntedhouseofpain.com

The Haunted Woods of Death

The Maze of Terror

Mulberry River Farms Fright Fest

Spooktrail

The Haunted Train Depot

and

the most popular one is Sloss Fright Furnace. It's really, really, really creepy. They say it's really haunted. *shiver* It was even featured on Scariest Places on Earth, and CBS news. Almost every year someone sees something that's not part of the show. My friends and I saw a man in overalls walk through a wall and commented on what a great effect it was to one of the operators. He just looked at us kind of funny and said that it wasn't part of the show and that Slag must be up to no good again. We were ready to leave after that. You really should check it out, if you can. It's not just a haunted house, they have a 3D maze, road kill cafe, stages of Death, horror movie marathon, and tons of other stuff as well. Here's their website if anyone wants to check it out.

Be sure to check out the haunted history, too, they have film of the machines moving by themselves and other spooky things.

We've only gone to all of them one season. Usually we stick to the closest ones which are Halloween on the farm, The Haunting, Atrox Factory, Judgement House, Jay Cee's, and Sloss Fright Furnace. Kailey's giving me a fit this year, wanting to go, but the age restrictions are 12 and above on most and 18 and above on some of the others. She's going to have to be happy with the Pumpkin Patch for now.

What a great array of choices! I haven't really investigated the haunted houses in our area since my little one is too young for them. Maybe next year.

My husband and I up until last year use to help put together a haunted house and work it on halloween night. We always had so much fun and the kids really loved it. I am totally into haunted houses. I have gone to Kings Island during October and the haunted houses there are awesome. Nothing like I have seen around here. They even had live rats in one that you crawled over and a light came on when you were on top of them. It was so much fun. Haunted mazes are great fun too. I have made it a habit to visit as many as I can during this season.
