Loss of a partner/spouse
FamilyHost_Pia - October 29, 2009
Few events in life are as painful as the death of your spouse/partner. Whether you were together for 2 years or 50 years, loosing your partner can be like losing a part of yourself. If you have lost a spouse or partner and how did you deal with it?

I went through a divorce, and the loss, while undoubtedly not as intense as death, was quite severe. I'd recommend Katharine Kubler Ross book "On death and dying" to understand the five steps in grieving. That gives understanding, though grieving isn't something you can rush through. I've counseled a number of folk who have lost a partner to death, and everyone grieves at their own rate. However, the cycle of denial, anger, bargaining, and other steps are pretty standard for everyone.

You know I have heard quiet a few people say this about divorce, especially after they had been married for a long time! I am so sorry that you had to go through this! :(
