Cutting Down on Packaging
FamilyHost_Cheryl - September 12, 2009
I have noticed that there are a number of manufacturers that are downsizing their packaging. Less waste is a good thing. I like buying refillable items to cut down on excess packaging. Do you consider packaging when you choose products at the store?

One some items, I certainly do. For instance, I buy cereal in bags rather than boxes, when I can. I wish Special K came in the plastic bags rather than cardboard boxes.

We don't look at the amount of packaging as much as we look at the packaging's ability to be reused or recycled. I know what you mean about cereal boxes. We started using them to hold magazines. We make a diagonal cut to remove a section of the box, cover with comics or self adhesive vinyl, add a label to the tall edge and store on our book shelves.

I really like your idea of turning cereal boxes into magazine holders.
