Take inventory of what you already have that can be used again think more durable items, like clothes and shoes and what's still waiting to be used for the first time extra packs of pencils & notebooks. Avoid impulse purchases by making a list before you head to the store.

Think global, play local. Look for exotic, exciting places nearby to take the family to. Be a tourist in your own area and find places you never knew were there.

When you look for sheets, curtains, or towels, go for organic cotton, if possible. It's still the same cottony goodness, but you'll rest easy knowing it's grown without nasty pesticides.
