How tired are you
FamilyHost_Kristina - November 19, 2008
So I kept flipping the channels and looking at the TV Guide and realized that there are more reality shows than honest to god real scripted sitcoms and series on these days. Have we become a society that will seriously watch just about any average Joe on tv making an idiot of themselves for their 15 minutes of fame and a chunk of change? Do you prefer sitcom and series tv or shows like Big Brother and Survivor?

I watch movies now that I thought I watched with my daughters, or my two older grandkids, and it's like I'm watching them for the first time......if I'm alone that is. My 3yr old doesn't have a very long attention span either, so yesterday I caught about 4 minutes of The Incredibles! It was like I'd never seen that movie before!!! Back to the subject for a minute, I was too busy today to switch channels, and caught Wife Swap....OMG there are some weird families out there!!! It's the first show I've seen that I thought MY family would really be too dull for!!!

Yeah Wife Swap is an interesting show, and sometimes I have watched it wondering what planet some of them have come from.

I guess I got lucky because it was part of the cable package so I don't have to pay extra or I wouldn't be able to have it either. But for me there is no other way to watch tv with my two year old always asking a question or my 9 year old tattling that the two year old is trying to do something I would miss all the shows I like.

I can't afford the DVR, but you're right...it's a MUCH better way to watch TV!!!! My mother still records her favorite craft shows and such to Video Tape!!! We're just way behind in the technology thing!

With my kids I can't live without my DVR. I can pause live TV, record the shows and watch them when I have a chance and with the recordings I can fast forward through the commercials!

Just so we're all clear, I've never seen Eli Stone! I don't believe ANY show really gives a true impression of the profession in reality. And I can't seem to ever watch EVERY episode of the shows I love....too many family members pulling me every which way. I can't make sure I'm home on Sunday nights, even, to watch Amazing Race. I would rather wait until the shows are all out on DVD, so I can watch them at my leisure.....but then, I can't afford the DVD's, so I never get to see them at all. My own preference is 30-minute sitcoms...I don't have to give them my undivided attention....and I get to laugh once in awhile.

Yeah my better half can't watch any of the CSI's or any type of cop drama because he nit-picks them the whole time. But I really do love Eli Stone and will be really sad to see it go.

I haven't watched Eli Stone. The one show I have to watch is Lost which starts back in January.

I have a niece who is a lawyer, and when she hears the words "Boston Legal" she just rolls her eyes! I'm guessing that its an accurate portrayal of the legal profession about as much as "Get Smart" is an accurate portrayal of the CIA.

I work for a Dr. and can't watch medical dramas because it's just so far fetched.
