What would you give up for a cleaning lady?
FamilyHost_Cheryl - August 01, 2009
When I was growing up my grandmother had a cleaning lady every week and for a few year we had a cleaning lady as well. I figure that my parents and grandparent must have made sacrifices to have the luxury of those cleaning ladies.

I figured we could have some fun sharing what we'd give up to have our own cleaning lady/maid. Me, I'd give up chocolate. Yes, you heard me right. I would actually give up my love affair with chocolate to have my home cleaned for me, top to bottom, every week. What would you give up?

UHmmm, I am not giving up my chocolate! LOL - I would give up half of my coffee...I can't give it all up or people would not want to talk to me :D

I don't think I could give up chocolate either! I see the calorie-burning cleaning as a way to work off the chocolate!

I've actually found a good compromise. I managed to find $50/month in my budget through lots of couponing and sales shopping. I have a college student who does housecleaning come twice a month to just clean the bathrooms. She does it a lot faster than I can (with my three kids in tow) and does a much better job. It's worth the sacrifice, and I happily scrimp and save elsewhere to not scrub toilets and tubs!

Chocolate...of course. Caramel...never! I'd give up eating asparagus and brussell sprouts, I'd sacrifice mowing the lawn, and tuning the car. He he he! Actually, I have no idea what the cost would be, but I'd give up $25 every other week to get a couple of hours of cleaning.

Giggles, if you gave up half of your coffee and then went to espresso it'd be like not giving up coffee at all, and you'd still earn the cleaning lady.

That is a good compromise. The bathrooms are the part of cleaning that I just dread. It could be that I live in a household of males, but I did not particularly like cleaning the bathroom when I lived alone either.

Fess up, BroncosDad. I bet you aren't fond of asparagus or brussel sprouts and don't do the happy dance at mowing or tuning the car. LOL I'm with you and not giving up caramel. I was given a great recipe to make my own caramels and it's a keeper.

I would gladly give up my Starbucks coffee ice cream for someone to come in and do my cleaning!!! I would love to be able to focus all of my time on my kids without worrying about daily chores. Now that I've made my sacrifice when should I expect my cleaning lady :-)

Oh if it would only be that easy! I guess I could give up ... wait, nothing! I would rather work more to pay for it than give up the few things I love like chocolate!
